the beginning - once again

this website is in my bookmarks list for long..neva used it before..kinda scared to use it..it brings back the memories of the resolutions i had taken so many times and forgotten as many times..

i have never done justice to this blog and it made me sad that its there sitting in the list waiting for a click from me...

i thought how wud it have felt had my blog had emotions..for the sake of simplicity i will assume that this blog is feminine..'coz i think females are more emotionally mature than males..

she would have been sad...the hope for a click would have kept her alive for sure..the very fact that its there in the bookmark wud have given her some relief..yet..the pain of not being able to get enough attention wud be killing her..

all those moments when i look at the weblink and then just move over her was so easy for me..neva gave a thought on how cruel it is on my side to neglect someone like that..

i can relate to it..d feeling on the other side is unbearable..

so here i am ..once again..going to start a new journey...no plans..no todo lists ..no dates as to how frequent i wud update this blog..because i hate to give expectations and not live upto them..

but one thing for sure.. this blog has taken a whole new meaning...i wudnt neglect her anymore..

i just wish this attachment remains for long....it wud be shameless on my part if i am not able to take care of her ...

having said al this...i need to make one more decision..i have another blog..how do i maintain the other one...how would she be feeling??...hmm..have to talk to her too....

chalo..

time to publish you...

hope I have made her happy..and given some meaning to her existance..

WTF!!!

Dated: 1 Oct '08 @ 23:03

phew! jus finished watching a show ..its called face the nation ..and the question.."have the armed forces crossed there limit by not accepting the recommendations of the 6 CPC as it is " ..

all i can say to the news channel is WTF ..is that a question worth framing .. its such a cheap question that will put even a freebie to shame ...( that quote is btw totally original ..)

though the debate brought out that the indian public is totally with the defence forces what i hated was the framework of the question .. if they wanted to bring out the various sides of the issue they could have found million other ways to do it ..but a question like this just sensentionalises the whole thing without bringing in any solution with it ..

the debate was nicely carried forward by the retd. admiral and he put forward his points in logical and succint manner .. a former secretary on the panel had no valid arguments to counter the point blank questions that the former navy chief raised with respect to the reasons why the anomalies crept up in the first place .. all that the secretary said just exposed the callous manner in which the administration takes care of the men in uniform whose sacrifice cant be measured by mere notes .

though many people supported the defence and said that they need to be paid more and handsomely , one of the ladies interviewed said that the armed forces are given lot of free stuffes everywere they go and that they shouldnt complaint.. all i want to say to her is "GetLost B****h" ..put her into one of the forward post and ask her to live there , keep constant vigil and have the fear of the enemy(natural and manmade) always hanging around..and tell her that she will be paid around 10k and free house for doin that...lets c whether she will as passionate in accepting it as she was defending the disparity..

the moot point is not about the money but about the dignity of the officers and men .. what makes the bureucrats think that the officers in the army are less capable intellectually (physical is beyond comparison ) than they are ?.. why has the situation come to such an extent that the chiefs had to resort to such a measure?..why did the government show such stupidity ,when forming the panel of 40 members who looked into the anomalies ,as to not involve a single uniformed person ..? .. we need permenent solutions and the govt. of the day has to answer to the public so that it doesnt happen in the future ..

but the silver lining i think is the defence minister .. hats off to him ..i think he is the right person who is at the helm at the right time ..though i can write a single post just praising the manner in which he has handled the ministry of defence ..for now i thank him for being compassionate to the needs of the defence personnel ..his positive view has helped a lot in moving ahead..

i think that the situ will be resolved in militaries favour as it shud be ..common sense should prevail ..and if that happens..then its back to kissing and making it up..afterall we need everyone to work in unison to make this country reach its potential...

i feel happy that i have vented out my thoughts.. wish to do it the same for all the issuees i had listed down in my last post ..

till i get back to u..

Political Thriller

Dated : 11 July '08 @ 22:17

The last week has been pretty exciting as far the political situation in the country is concerned.

So many things are happening so fast that it is becoming more like a thriller movie. The climax will be on July 22 nd wen the govt. seeks a trust vote on the floor of the house. That is the D Day.
The number crunching has already begun and it appears as if the govt. wil be on the safe side.

The whole issue has just reinforced the long held belief that in politics there are no permanent enemies but only permanent interests , and also that there are hardly any national leaders left . Most of them are just party leaders .

Take for instance ,the SAD . They say they are in favour of the nuke deal but wil oppose the govt on the floor of the house . Why?? ..arrey maamu , they are in the opposition and it will be irresponsible for them to vote for the govt.. Its immaterial to them that if the govt. falls then the deal would get stuck unless the next govt. is in place ..and its immaterial to them that its a good deal and in national interest . But then thats how politics is played here .

Another amusing character is the RLD. They say they are in favour too but they wil support the govt only if there regional aspirations are met. The TRS asks the PM to commit to the telangana cause to get there vote for the govt...

So wat is the point ?? is the motion going to be related to the nuke deal or the govt on the whole . If its the former then ideally all parties who are in favour should vote irrespective of there coalition dharm . If its the whole of govt. then i think the communists better abstain from it coz they wer with this govt for the past 4 years and to vote against will be like commiting hara kiri..

Anyways lets hope better sense prevails and things move on smoothly . If the thinking segment of the country say that the deal is good then it should be good. The US is giving us a free ride so that it can counter the advance of china...Good for us. But ofcourse we know wen to say no to uncle sam ..and i think uncle sam realises it too ..but then they have no option too ..

Lets get done with this deal .After all its just 1 of 100s we have with US . Lots of problem on hand to tackle and nuke deal wont solve any of them..

The next weeks gona be boring. I think the experts have said all they had to .. Its time to sit back and watch patiently as the game unfolds further and the movie reaches its climax..

Til then , its happy weekend ..

Nuke Deal

Dated : 04 July '08 @ 23:11

Its almost decided...the govt. is going ahead with the deal .. big deal u may ask ..well sir/madam(i hope!)..it is a big deal..now we are going to get embraced into a "strategic alliance" as the commies see it ..and also we are going to surrender our foreign policy to the west..not enuf!!!we are also going to play second fiddle to the americans for the rest of the existance of our nation ..

the main opposition party ,which started the NSSP(Next step in startegic partneship) and which called the americans our "natural ally" are opposing it not on the merits of the deal but simply because they are in the opposition..what a logic to lead the nation...salute the leaders!!!

And here is my take on it..to all the skeptics of the deal ...pls have some self respect .. by projecting to the world that we are going to be at the mercy of the west and that we wud not be able to carry out a foreign policy beneficial to us but instead to the west is insulting the self respect and intelligence of 1 billion plus citizens of this country ..

y dont these guys understand that if a govt becomes a pawn at the hands of western govt then it will be punished by its own people..democracy is no small tool at the hands of people ..if the people think that a future action has been done at the pretext of western infulence then the junta is gonna react..and as our democracy gets more mature..courtesy the growing literacy base and the super expansion of the thinking middleclass the decision making will be all the more rational ..

To the supporters ..pls dont make this as a do or die issue...if its good now for both its gonna be good two years down the line too..and the worries that a future administartion wudnt endorse it is just political gimmickary..

who gains from all this mess that has engulfed the political establishment...?? a party that bitterly opposed the present one for having a foreign born lady at the helm and is lead by a stand in captain

the nuke deal for them is just a veil .. behind it western industrilist are trying hard to get the deal past somehow so that their defunct nuke factories can get started.. corporates here are using all the contacts they have so a "political consensus" is obtained...no idea on how many countless deals have been stuck to get this one mother of all deal passed ..

chalo..thats how the game of politics is played in our country .. no other country is fairing better either..so no complains...

i have missed out on the merits/demerits of the nuke deal ..but hey!! who cares ...its the context not the content that matters for all ...and all u need to get the pros/cons is to google it..i am sure u dnt need the link to google..

but anyways hats off to the diplomats who pulled the deal out..truly great work ..hats off to Mr prime minister for staying put.. hats off to commies for not giving in..and hats off to democracy because ultimately no matter who wins or looses ..its the democracy thats gonna win..and boohs to the opposition for not being manly enuf to own up its child...shame on u guys ... try searching for balls on sale on ebay ...u need them big time..

Governance-part 1

Date : 13 June '08 @ 21:23

This is one topic on which i think a lot about . Something i have been doing since my school days ..guess it started around 8th standard .. it was about the same time that i started reading The Hindu .. i must say this news paper has shaped my personality a lot . It has been more than just a news paper for me . Its more of a guide. I owe a lot to it . . well i will reserve my thanksgiving to some other day.. But the point here is that it was The Hindu that has brought out the spirit of nationalism in me ..

I think patriotic spirit in me came either naturally or by design (since my dad was in the army) ..but it has come to the forefront cause of the newspaper in big way . Part of the reason is that the country was starting to experience a growth never seen before and i got caught in the excitement . ..the excitement about "bharat" as i like to call it is still there and i dont think its gonna die down anytime soon ..and i think the growth that we are witnessing now is not gonna slow down either ..

And so i started to think about government and how it impacts common people...How much power democracy confers on "We the people".. I follow the developments that happen in the country very closely and get really passionate about it . .

There are lot of things that the present government has initiated which i think are laudable .

Like the NREGS , the RTI , starting of IISERs, NISER , lots of IITs ,lots of IIMs .., increased spending on SSA, Bharat Nirman ,JNNURM ,etc, etc .. Though i might sound a bit too biased but i think that these are some of the achievements the present govt. gonna b proud of ..and looking back after some years we will surely realise the importance of these in nation building .

As our democracy becomes more vibrant , the corruption wil reduce due to introduction of RTI .. we will produce more scientist, technologist and managers . We will have better infrastructure and better cities .. We can become a knowledge powerhouse . And i do believe we can do it .

The country is on such a path that no govt can dare to go against it . What we need is development and nothing else..Not at the cost of the common man..They should be taken along .. And thats why reforms should have the human face that our PM talks about ..

But there is still lot of scope for improvement . We are nearly 10% done on what can be done ..There is still miles to go.. Something that can help things become faster is e-governence.. The 11th five year plan has given lot of emphasis on this..in fact the JNNURM has e gov as a pre requisite ..

I just wish these well intentioned schemes have the political backing that is required to make them a success..

Lots of projects are being undertaken under PPP .. They are good and i think it is one way to bring about changes faster ..but then as with any private company..profit is their only motive and only profitable works will be done by them..nevertheless since it is much better to pay for something tat exists than hope for to use something that is not gonna materialise..

There are lots of prerequistie for effective governence..One is people participation ,another equally important aspect is fast and efficient judiciary .. Every week articles are written on how to improve the justice delievery system .But not much seem to happen on ground ..

The judiciary in one orgainisation that still commands respect . In fact the only constitutional authority tat still is repected by people .. The government needs to upgrade the judicial system big time and make it more dynamic and responsive .. Only then will fear of law will have its true meaning..

Well my thoughts are too much to be expressed in any order and thats why the above post looks so mixed up but then pouring out on something i am so passionate about it in a sequential form will make my thoughts loose the pristine feel that it has ..

Criticism of the govt. is not fair since i am not going to do anything better than it . So i reserve my criticism to myself..

I am thinking to keep writing on this ..and so i will tag my post accordingly ..

until then ..its good bye..keep going on full throttle "Bharat"..

As i sign off i must tell you that my play list has randomly selected "Maa tujhey salaam" from the hundreds of songs it has ..i think its mere coincidence ..but as Paulo Coelho said "it might be an omen " ..i think it is ..Only time will tell what the reason is ..Anyways i think the best way to sign out of this post is to let my nation know .. "Maa tujhey salaam"

A preview

I have started to put things in order. And this new blog is part of the restructuring process.

I have one more blog which started to log in my personal life . But soon i realized that i write more often about issues surrounding me than my personal life. And so my personal blog got mixed with posts dealing with nuclear deal , governance and so on.

Now before my other blog gets two mixed up i thought i should cut back and start a separate blog just to log my thoughts on the various issues happening and keep my first blog highly restricted to my experiences which my life takes me through .

And here it is . My new blog titled "SagacityPersonified".. This blog is a shout box of my mind. All i want to let this world know about what i think about the issues that is affecting them directly or indirectly.

Some may agree, some disagree and some will just chose to ignore my views. Everything is welcome and i will try to remain as close to my mind as possible yet making sure that i dont write anything which can be considered derogatory..Not that i imagine it to create a national debate or a widespread resentment but as a matter of policy i think i should judiciously chooose to excercise my right to freedom of thought and expression.

I am going to copy paste the posts from my first blog to this one so that i have a consolidated list at one place and not scattered around here and there. But from now on , the posts will be under two broad category. Personal and General. This blog being dedicated to the latter.

Alrite then,
